Faux Feathers & Fluff

Feathers or faux fur can elevate your basic outfit by adding texture, dimension, and a bit of fun and playfulness to your look. You could opt for a hint of fluff with a small fun feathery handbag, a jacket or shoes with a furry trim or something more statement like an all over feather jacket. This can instantly make a simple outfit like jeans and a tee with heels more glamorous, unique, and eye-catching. While it's a big trend, it's also something that will make you stand out from the crowd. I wore a blue feather clutch to dinner the other night and never have I received more compliments.

Metallics

Metallics are going to be a huge trend for winter! With winter traditionally being big on neutrals, denim and darker tones, metallics - in particular silver - are the perfect way to elevate a more basic look, giving it a bit more style and visual interest. We will be seeing a lot of metallic washed denim, metal foil corsets, metallic pumps, statement metallic handbags and jewellery in hard silver. I'm also loving sneakers with metallic accents and even silver manicures. While this trend comes in all metallic shades (gold, bronze, rose gold etc.), I am most partial to the liquid silver look, as it can double as a neutral.

Things that Sparkle

Previously reserved for just a night out, sparkles are now potentially my favourite way to transform a basic day outfit into something more stylish. You’ll be seeing so much sparkle in all types of silhouettes and accessories and this winter it's all about casual “daytime shine". Wearable separates can spice up even the most basic staples, like a sequin skirt with a baggy tee, trench and sneakers, a crystal bodysuit with jeans and some boots or even a simple denim outfit with some statement sparkle bling on the ears. If you want to try this trend but it's a bit too out of your comfort zone, go for some sparkly sneakers and paired back with a grey or neutral tracksuit, which instantly give the look more personality and swag.

Not your Traditional Suit

Ok so this applies to the ladies and gents as we all love a good suit set, try thinking outside of the black or grey suit box and use this winter to experiment in something less traditional. I'm loving tartan in suiting or exaggerated check, especially if its boxy or a bit more oversized on the girlies. I also love colour in winter, I think it helps with having a positive mind set especially when the weather is gloomy. A good block colour suit in one of this seasons it colours like a cobalt blue or butter yellow is super fun but chic.

A Staple Blazer or Trench

A really versatile blazer or trench which you can throw over anything is a winter wardrobe essential. For me both are winter go to’s as they can be worn basically anywhere like to the office, over a dress for events, or casually over jeans or even with a bodysuit, sweatpants and sneakers. There are so many colours and styles to choose from, but for me personally I love an oversized boyfriend blazer fit in black as the proportions just look cooler. With a trench, I love an oversized fit in a camel or beige colour. Neutral tones in wardrobe stables are great as then they can go back with your more loud wardrobe personality pieces.

Statement Sneakers or Crocs

What you wear on your feet says a lot about your personality. You can have the most basic outfit on, add a statement pair of shoes and change the whole aesthetic of your look. I'm seeing a lot of fun New Balance throwback styles, multicolour Adidas Sambas and also fun colour crocs that are the ultimate comfortable cool choice. I know people hear the word crocs and shriek a little, but they are really having a moment and crocs do a lot of collaborations with different fashion brands so you can find some really cool individual designs. They are also so comfortable, which is what you want for winter.
